ABC 21 receives Emmy nominations for newscasts, ‘News Excellence’ and more

CLEVELAND (WPTA21) – ABC21 is nominated for 11 regional Emmy Awards in the 52nd edition of the annual competition.

The announcement was made Thursday by the Lower Great Lakes Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

ABC21’s “Political Radar” and the station’s “21Country” franchise are among the entries nominated for a gold statuette.

The summer special “Matt’s Weather School,” which teaches children about weather phenomena in our area, is also a nominee.

Three ABC21 newscasts are up for awards, and the station is nominated for the fourth year in a row in the category of News Excellence.

It is the only station outside of the two largest markets — Cleveland and Indianapolis — to receive a News Excellence nomination.

ABC21 competes in a region that comprises television stations, cable and satellite channels, production companies and other broadcast-related organizations from four states.

ABC21 is nominated in the following categories:

  • Arts/Entertainment
  • Children/Youth/Team
