CHICAGO (WKOW) — WKOW-TV received a Midwest Emmy Award for “Best Evening Newscast” for our coverage in the aftermath of the Didion Milling explosion in Cambria.
The explosion happened in the summer of 2017. 27 News brought viewers extended coverage and live reports from the scene of the explosion.
The Emmy was awarded to all of those who worked on the 5 p.m. newscast on June 1, 2017.
The broadcast was produced by Matt Cash, directed by Sherry Steinhauer and anchored by Amber Noggle. Several reporters and photographers brought viewers the images and stories that came from that explosion. Those journalists include Tony Galli, Caroline Bach, Nick Buffo, Ryan Moore, Bob Pierce and Matt Behrens.
“While we were recognized for a singular newscast, the newscast would not have been a showcase of excellence without the hard work our newsroom puts in from morning to night.” WKOW News Director Ed Reams said. “It is wonderful to work alongside such a talented and hard-working group of broadcast professionals.”
The show was overseen by Reams.
