ROCKFORD (WREX) – James Stratton is joining 13 WREX as its new evening co-anchor in August. Stratton will join current 13 News Anchor Kristin Crowley on the anchor desk weeknights at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Stratton currently anchors weekend newscasts for KWQC, the NBC-affiliate in the Quad Cities. He is also a reporter at the station, where he has covered the Iowa Caucuses, interviewed multiple presidential candidates and spent nine months investigating and reporting on a juvenile crime epidemic.
“I am a firm believer in being a steward of public information and fighting against corruption and wrongdoing,” Stratton said. “I am excited to bring my knowledge of open records requests, investigative reporting and leadership to the anchor desk and the people of Rockford.”
Stratton has been at KWQC for six years, working multiple jobs, including intern, photographer, reporter and weekend anchor. James is very active in the Quad Cities community—involved with numerous community organizations.
“James brings a wealth of knowledge and talent to the 13 WREX newsroom,” Josh Morgan, News Director at 13 WREX, said. “His passion for telling stories and getting involved in the community will make him a perfect fit here in Rockford.”
“I am coming to WREX because of the storied past it has in the community of Rockford and the current stronghold it has,” Stratton added. “The awards speak for themselves, but the community outreach from WREX shows they truly care about the people they serve daily.”
Stratton’s first day on-air at 13 WREX will be Monday, Aug. 6 at 5 p.m.
