Morning Meteorologist – HOI ABC

Careers-HOIABC

HOI, the Heart of Illinois ABC affiliate and sister station of WEEK in Peoria, Illinois, has an immediate opening for an experienced meteorologist to prepare and present forecasts for our weekday morning newscasts.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about weather and understands its impact on viewers’ lives. We understand the importance of weather coverage to our viewers and have built a weather center with the very latest in storm tracking technology through WSI MAX, a network of cameras providing live video throughout our DMA, and a mobile storm tracker vehicle that provides us with live coverage of threatening weather events. It’s all designed to keep our viewers safe, informed and ahead of the storm.

This position includes on-air weather coverage during Good Morning Illinois, from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., Monday through Friday, as well as breaking severe weather coverage when it occurs. Special event coverage and special reports are also part of the job, along with community appearances on behalf of the station.

The ideal candidate will have prior on-air experience and a degree in meteorology. An NWS or AMS seal is preferred, but the candidate can pursue these as part of the position. The ideal candidate will also be proficient in posting to our own website, hoiabc.com, and social media. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are a large part of how HOI connects with viewers.
