WPTA-TV, Fort Wayne, Indiana, is a highly successful, legacy station that has an opportunity for an energetic, self-motivated Multimedia Journalist.
This position will focus on enterprise feature storytelling, with responsibilities including the identification of unique topics and subjects, research of subject matter and writing, videography and editing of content.
We want a creative storyteller who will showcase his or her work on multiple platforms every day, including television, web, mobile and social media. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, with the ability to coordinate multiple assignments simultaneously.
As an MMJ, you will produce content for our broadcast news operations – ABC21 (WPTA21.com) and Fort Wayne’s NBC (FortWaynesNBC.com) – and digital and social media platforms.
This position may include opportunity for some anchoring of newscasts.
This is the ideal position for an ambitious, aggressive, curious and motivated journalist. This is not a job for someone who expects “down time.” The successful candidate will have proven skills to develop sources, work a beat, and have solid writing and editing skills.
A degree in journalism or a related field is preferred, along with on-air television experience. Experience with newsroom computer systems and video editing is essential. A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.
