KBJR 6 honored with 6 Emmy nominations

KBJR 6’s coverage of the April explosion at the Husky Energy refinery earned several 2018 NATAS Upper Midwest Emmy nominations, the organization announced Friday.

KBJR 6 News at Noon and KBJR 6 News at Ten earned nominations in the Daytime and Evening Newscasts (Markets 121+) for the April 26th event. KBJR 6’s hours-long live coverage earned a Breaking News nomination.

KBJR 6 News Today also received a nomination for Morning Newscast (Markets 121+) for its reporting on a spring snow storm.

Other nominations included a News Promotional Spot and Video Journalist Compilation.

“We have a duty to serve our viewers with critical information during times of uncertainty. Our team delivered during the Husky Energy explosion and fire. It’s an honor to be recognized for that work.,” Kevin Jacobsen, KBJR 6 news director said.

Nearly 950 entries were submitted this year from television stations in a five state region.

Winners will be announced at the 19th Annual Upper Midwest Regional Emmy Awards Gala on Saturday, October 6 in Bloomington, MN.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is the only professional association representing television professionals from all disciplines of the industry, serving as the common meeting ground for individuals
dedicated to advancing the art and science of television.
