WBNG honored at NYS Broadcasters Association awards ceremony

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — WBNG would like to congratulate our entire team for bringing home seven awards on Thursday.

The New York State Broadcasters Association held its Excellence in Broadcasting and Serving New York luncheon at the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown Binghamton. Similar ceremonies are taking place throughout the state.

“You have a number of media outlets out there that consumers can choose from but it’s local broadcasting that really is committed to serving the local community and we are here to celebrate that,” NYSBA President David Donovan said.

The station prides itself on bringing our viewers the latest news and unique stories via broadcast, our website and social media. The awards are just a bonus to that job.

WBNG took home awards in the following categories:

  • Outstanding Public Service Announcement – Coats for Kids campaign
  • Outstanding Live On-Scene Reporting – Michael Schwartz
  • Outstanding Sportscast – Larry Burneal
  • Outstanding Morning Newscast – 12 News This Morning, Aug. 15, 2018
