The Wausau, Wisconsin area is a great place to live, work and play whether you’re joining WAOW’s team for your first job or as a seasoned professional on the way up. The city is home to a thriving downtown, plenty of outdoor activities, and a variety of craft breweries and restaurants.

Root for your favorite team
You’re surrounded by sports franchises when you live in central Wisconsin. The Green Bay Packers are about 75 minutes away. College fans aren’t far from the University of Wisconsin Badgers and the Wausau Woodchucks collegiate baseball team. Just a couple of hours south, NBA and MLB fans can root for the Milwaukee Bucks and Milwaukee Brewers. Enjoy great eats

The Wausau area is home to some eateries both upscale and down home. It’s easy to find good fish fry on Fridays if that’s your thing. For the home cook, the Wausau Farmers Market is just one of many great places for locally sourced food in the area.

Summertime celebrations

From concerts, to county fairs, to balloon and rib fest – your summer weekend will be jam packed with fun. Check out the Hodag County Music Festival in Rhinelander for national country acts, or stop by the Wisconsin Valley Fair for popular nightly acts. If that’s not enough, the downtown 400 Block has Concerts on the Square on Wednesdays all summer.

Wintertime fun

If you prefer snow to swim, Wausau and central Wisconsin has you covered. Hit the slopes at Granite Peakand enjoy the beautiful sites of Rib Mountain. Catch a variety of snowmobile trails across the county, or set up your ice shanty right here in town on Lake Wausau.

Live an active life
Active lifestyles fit right into living in Wausau. Head out to the hiking trails at Rib Mountain State Park, and stay for a round of golf at the bottom of Granite Peak. Central Wisconsin is home to more than a dozen golf courses (Golf card link). If you have a furry friend, try the Weston dog park with nearly 40 acres of land for your dog to run and play.
